Oh, the Memories

Thank you to Larry Fisher '59 for answering our recent call for Purdue Phi memories.

He writes, "It was the spring of 1958 or 1959 and some of the brothers had gone to Florida over Easter Vacation, no spring break at that time, and had returned with some fire crackers. What can you do with fire crackers but shoot them off? It ended up that a strip of rubber, from an inner tube was stretched across the window of the 3rd floor head making a very powerful sling shot. The Delta Kappa house was behind us across the parking lot and we were launching cherry bombs with the sling shot across the back of the house onto the roof of the Delta Kappa house or bouncing them off the side of their house. It was great fun with about 15 or 20 brothers in the head laughing and enjoying the show until one cherry bomb hit the bottom of the window and bounced back into the head. Have you ever seen 20 men trying to get through one door simultaneously?"
